I am PhD candidate in computer science at the University of Colorado - Boulder where I am advised by Rebecca Morrison. I also spend time as a visiting student researcher at the National Center for Atmospheric Research where my mentor is Allison Baker. I did my undergraduate degree in physics at Colorado College as a Boettcher Scholar where I was advised by Shane Burns.
My research primarily concerns calibration, verification and uncertainty quantification of expensive, chaotic computer models like those used for weather and climate prediction. Often this work involves the use of ensembles and characterization of model output distributions. Broadly, I am interested in how we combine knowledge in the form of physical laws or domain expertise with observations to make reliable and practical computer models.
I am passionate about service in the scientific community and participate in mentoring and service programs from the high school to graduate level.
